Test Name Oxidative Burst
Specimen Type / Requirements Container Type = Lavender Minimum Volume = 1 mL Tube must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity
Specimen Handling Collection Instructions: Ensure sample is mixed adequately. Collect a Separate tube for CBC (The result of the CBC must be sent with the sample). Sample must arrive at testing location Monday to Wednesday between 0900-1200 hours. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Stability: Stable for 24hrs at room temperature and 3 days refrigerated. Transportation: Transport at room temperature within 1 hour of collection. Lab Instrustions Order the test as STAT and enter NOBI in comment. Send sample via taxi and notify sample sick kids corelab before sending. Testing is done Monday-Wednesday only and Sick Kids must receive sample before 12pm. Sample Rejection Criteria:Clotted sample, Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity samples will be rejected.
