Specimen HandlingCollection Instructions: Collect sample in gold top (SST) tube. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Laboratory Staff Instructions: Send BHB to St Joes. The test is different from the ketones offered in SMH. Sperate as soon and possible and send refrigrated. Rejection Criteria: Grossly hemolyzed, lipemic, Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity Samples will be rejected. Avoid repeat freeze/Thaw cycles. Stability: Stable refrigrated for 14 days 2-8°C and frozen at or below -20°C for more than 14 days. Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible. |
