Screening for intimate partner violence: researchers and clinicians collaborate to build two apps

November is Woman Abuse Prevention Month in Ontario.

One in six women in fracture clinics around the world has experienced intimate partner violence, but screening for such abuse remains scarce.

Studying partner violence, our MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions scientists noted that many people didn’t realize they were experiencing abuse in their intimate relationships until it was too late.

So they teamed up with our Fracture Clinic and other community partners to develop digitally enabled tools to help screen for intimate partner violence and create personalized safety plans. The WITHWomen team has now developed two web-based applications. Learn more in the short video below.
