Dr. Andreas Laupacis, Palliative Care physician and scientist with the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute (LKSKI), has accepted an exciting new role as editor-in-chief of the Canadian Medical Association Journal group of publications, effective Oct. 7. As of Sept. 18, Dr. Laupacis will also close a chapter of his career and will no longer practise medicine.

Dr. Laupacis served for more than a decade as the executive director of the LKSKI and his leadership was critical to building the institute into the high-powered, high-quality enterprise it is today. He has also been a mentor to numerous emerging scientists in the institute and continued this important work as a researcher with the LKSKI and a professor with the Department of Medicine and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto over the past two years.

We wrote a profile of Dr. Laupacis’ impressive career last year, when he stepped from the helm of the LKSKI after more than a decade. Read the full story and join us in congratulating Dr. Laupacis on this new step in his career.
