Liaison Volunteer

Sample Roles

  • serve as a resource for families in waiting areas (answering questions about length of wait, washrooms, Hospital facilities, use of telephones, etc.)
  • clerical support to the unit (filing, photocopying)
  • maintain waiting areas in good order (organize magazines, replenish coffee and cookies)
  • check on status of patients and inform families in waiting area
  • orient families to visitor policies and facilitate visiting of patients in accordance with clinical instructions
  • inform nursing staff if families are in need of further information or further support (i.e. Spiritual Care)
  • oversee ICU Quiet Rooms
