St. Michael's Hospital could not realize its mission and vision without volunteers.
Volunteers serve in units and departments throughout the hospital assisting patients, families, visitors and staff. We have a number of volunteer schedules to meet your needs.
Volunteers in the regular program are assigned to their placement for a minimum of one half day each week, for a minimum of one year. Recruitment for these placements is ongoing, and there is no deadline to apply. You must be available on the same day each week. There are no flexible or rotating shifts.
We recognize that many students wish to volunteer and have created two additional schedules to meet the needs of students: Academic Year and Summer Session.
Under these programs, volunteers are assigned to their placements for one half day each week during the academic year or one to two full day(s) per week during the summer session. You must be available on the same day each week. There are no flexible or rotating shifts.
These programs are open to students from high school, college or university, provided that the volunteer work is not to be performed for academic credit. However, please note that due to secondary school schedules, the academic year program has limited opportunities for high school students.
Academic Year (August 31)
Summer Session (March 31)
If you are a high school student interested in completing your co-op in healthcare at St. Michael's Hospital, please see our new YSTOP Program.
