At St. Michael's Hospital, we welcome your interest in joining our Volunteer Team!

What makes a great volunteer?

  • An interest in working in a health care setting
  • A commitment to the Mission and Values of St. Michael's Hospital
  • Kind and sympathetic with good listening skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Customer service orientation
  • Confidentiality and patient privacy is essential
  • Organized and reliable
  • A good team player
  • The ability to fulfill the time commitment of the volunteer role
  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age (15 for the Gift Shop)

To Apply

Complete and submit (by fax or mail) an application package and resume.

The application package includes:

  • Application Form
  • Reference Form (two completed references are required)
  • Resume

If you are interviewed and offered a placement, you must:

  • Complete an immunization/health record form (including a two-step TB test)
  • Attend a volunteer orientation session
  • Provide proof of OHIP or other health coverage
  • Sign the Hospital privacy and code of conduct documents
  • Attend additional unit/area training and orientation

Note that all applications are reviewed, but due to the volume of applications we receive, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
