Monitoring

The St. Michael's Hospital's Research Ethics Board conducts regular audits of research. Working closely with the Research Ethics Board. This function provides advice and recommendations to achieve research excellence. Audit procedures include a review of:

  • Study documentation
  • Compliance with approved protocol
  • Assurance of an informed consent process
  • External reporting compliance

The monitoring function helps to ensure research projects are compliant with federal and provincial guidelines as well as research sponsor requirements. Through this function the REB provides investigators with advice to promote excellence in the organization and execution of research throughout the Hospital.
