Research Activities

My primary interest is stroke outcome and health services research in the field of cerebrovascular disease.

Recently, I played a leading role in the creation of the Stroke Outcome Research Canada (SORCan) Working Group with the purpose of facilitating and enhancing relevant collaborative research among different Universities across Canada by including well-known investigators: Dr. Michael D. Hill (University of Calgary), Dr. Moira Kapral (University of Toronto), Dr. Martin O'Donnell (McMaster University), Dr. Thomas Jeerakathil (University of Edmonton), Dr. Dan Selchen (University of Toronto), Dr. Michael Sharma (University of Ottawa), Dr. Stephen Phillips (University of Dalhousie), Dr Gordon Gubitz (University of Dalhousie), Dr Robert Cote (McGill University), Dr Jeffrey Minuk (McGill University), Dr. Neville Bayer (University of Toronto), Dr. Sandra Black (University of Toronto), Dr. Vladimir Hachinski (University of Western Ontario).

Our research program includes four main areas: stroke outcome research, stroke epidemiology, stroke & health policy, and new emerging therapies in cerebrovascular disease. The ultimate goal of our program is to contribute with a better understanding of cerebrovascular disease and to improve the quality of care for stroke patients.
