Research Activities
I am an emeritus professor of medicine at the University of Toronto. My areas of interest are in renal and integrative physiology, metabolic regulation, and medical education. My research includes laboratory and clinical studies which have made significant contributions in the areas of acid-base balance, potassium, sodium and water physiology, and in the field of metabolic regulation. I developed many of the diagnostic tests used today at the bedside to reveal mechanisms of disease in these areas.
