Affiliations
Associate Scientist in the Keenan Research Centre of the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael's Hospital
Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, Division of Respirology, St. Michael's Hospital / University of Toronto

Research Interests
Knowledge Translation, E-Health Innovations, Asthma, Rare Lung Diseases, Hepatopulmonary Syndrome, Pulmonary Vascular Disease
Research Activities
One of my areas of interest is the field of knowledge translation, particularly as it can be applied across the spectrum of respiratory diseases. This includes studies of novel ways to implement respiratory guidelines, the use of electronic tools to bridge the gaps between evidence and practice, and the effect of patient-driven knowledge translation interventions. I am particularly interested in asthma and asthma action plan implementation.
My other area of interest is rare lung diseases, particularly the hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS). I am involved in studies of the physiology of HPS, prospective measurement of predictors and prognostic variables in this disease, evaluation of novel therapies for this disease, determination of genetic predictors of this disease, and retrospective analyses of patient outcomes.
Other Activities
- Vice-Chair, Canadian Respiratory Guidelines Committee (portfolio: Knowledge Translation Implementation and Evaluation)
- Chief Evaluator, Ontario Ministry of Health Primary Care Asthma Program, Collaborative Care Pilot Project
- Member, Ontario Lung Association and the Ontario Thoracic Society Provider Education Program
Educational Activities
I am willing to supervise trainees at all levels who share any of the areas of research interest listed above.
