As part of the Diabetes Comprehensive Care Program, the aim of the Osteoporosis Outreach Program (OPOutreach) is to educate healthcare professionals about developments in osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease.
This innovative program is accredited by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (for GP events) and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (for Specialist events), and is sponsored by the St. Michael's Hospital Foundation, whose generous funding has been matched by arms-length unrestricted grants from the Alliance for Better Bone Health (Procter & Gamble/Sanofi-Aventis) with additional support being added in 2008 from Amgen Canada Inc., Novartis Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Wyeth Canada.
Our 5th Annual Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Disease Outreach Symposium will take place on Friday, March 27, 2009, at the Park Hyatt Hotel, Toronto. For information and registration details, please contact the Program Coordinator, Barbara Gardner-Bray, at 416-360-4000 Ext. 6989.
This one-day program on Friday, April 4, 2008 included an outstanding faculty of speakers whose lectures covered topics of particular interest and included practical information for specialists on different aspects of metabolic bone disease.
A three-evening program on April 17-19, 2007 consisted of a lecture given each evening to family physicians by an expert in the field of osteoporosis, followed by an inter-active workshop.
