The Department of Ophthalmology at St. Michael's Hospital offers a wide variety of specialties … the most prominent being that of Vitreo-retinal Diseases. We also have Physicians specializing in Cornea / Anterior Segment, Glaucoma, Oculoplastics, Strabismus, Uveitis, Neuro-ophthalmology, Research, Pathology, and General Ophthalmology.
A wide variety of diagnostic tests are also done on site. These include:
- Colour Vision Assessment (Farnsworth 100-Hue)
- Electrophysiology (including Full Field ERG, Multi-Focal ERG, EOG, and Multi-Focal VEP).
- Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA)
- Fundus Photography
- Heidelberg Retina Tomography (HRT)
- Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
- Ultrasonography (both diagnostic B-scans and biometric A-scans)
- Visual Fields (both Goldmann and Humphrey)
- Zeiss IOL Master
Our Eye Clinic sees a large volume of patients … adult only. Appointments are made only with a physician referral … this is not a walk-in clinic. We do not do refractions … that is, we do not give prescriptions for glasses.
