Lavender Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = 1 Lavender

Minimum Volume = 1mL Plasma (EDTA)

Tubes must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Note:This test is performed using a kit that has not been cleared or approved
by Health Canada or the FDA. The analytical performance characteristics of
this test have been determined by the assay's manufacturer. This test should
not be used for diagnosis without confirmation by other medically established means.

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Specimen must be collected, processed, aliquoted and frozen within 30 minutes of collection. If unable to meet these requirements, patient must be referred to the outpatient laboratory in the hospital for collection.

Note: Cytokine levels may demonstrate diurnal variation. Recommend cytokine levels be determined at the same time of day for improved longitudinal comparison.

Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Laboratory Staff Instructions: Spin down in a refrigerated centrifuge within 30 minutes of collection. Remove plasma, carefully avoiding the platelet/buffy coat. Store and send frozen. If the specimen thaws, it is unsuitable for analysis.

Rejection Criteria: Gross hemolysis, gross lipemia, received room temperature, received refrigerated >48hrs, gross icterus.

Stability: Ambient: Not acceptable, Refrigerated: 48 hours, Frozen: 1 year.

Transportation: Send sample to core lab on ice as soon as possible.
