Green Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = Green Top (LiHep)

Minimum Volume = 2 mL Plasma

Tube must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect sample in green top tube (Heparin). Avoid gel-separator tubes. Ensure both sample and requisition are labelled properly. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label. Preferred collection time is trough collection within 30mins prior to the next dose or 6 - 14 hours post-dose (twice daily dosing), 12 - 26 hours post-dose (once daily dosing). Peak collection time: 2 - 4 hours post-dose.

Laboratory Staff Instructions: Enter collection time in the order entry comment section. Separate plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection. Store and send frozen.

Sample Rejection Criteria:Gross hemolysis, Gross lipemia, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity.

Stability: Stable refrigerated for 24 hours, Frozen for ≥ 1 24 hours.

Transportation: Send sample to core lab ASAP.
