Red Tube with thin top Specimen Type / Requirements

Adult

Container Type = 1 Red top

Minimum Volume = 2mL Serum

Tubes must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect sample in a red top tube without gel separator immediately before next scheduled dose. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label or requisition.

Laboratory Staff Instructions: Separate, store and send frozen.

Stability: Stable ambient, refrigerated and frozen for 29 days.

Rejection Criteria: Specimens collected in a gel-separator tube. Not frozen, unlabeled or samples of non sufficient quantity.

Transportation: Send samples to core laboratory as soon as possible.
