Calcitonin (Thyrocalcitonin)

Gold Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = 1 Gold Top (SST)

Minimum Volume = 2 ml serum

Tube must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Serum collected with or without gel separator.Fasting specimen preferred but not mandatory Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Special Instructions Separate from cells within 2 hours of collection. Store and send refrigerated

Rejection Criteria: Grossly hemolyzed, lipemic or microbially contaminated specimens, Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity Samples will be rejected.

Stability: Calcitonin is stable at room temperature for 8 hours, refrigerated for 15 Days and frozen at -20C or colder for 90days. Thaw samples only once.

Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible.
