Red Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = 1 Rep Top

Minimum Volume = 2 mL serum

Tube must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect sample in red top without gel separator. Do not use gel-separator tubes. Fasting specimen preferred but not mandatory. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Laboratory Staff Instructions Spin, sperate and freeze as soon as possible. Store and send frozen.

Rejection Criteria: Gel-separator tube, grossly hemolyzed, unlabeled or samples on non sufficient quantity.

Stability: Stable refrigerated for 7 days, and frozen for 90 days.

Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible.
