Green Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = 1 Green Top (LiHeparin)

Minimum Volume = 2 ml Plasma

Tube must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect sample in green top tube (LiHep). Protect specimen from light. Specimen must be labelled inside and outside light-protecting wrap. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Laboratory Staff Instructions Aliquot must be labelled inside and outside light-protecting wrap. Store and send frozen. If the specimen thaws, it is unsuitable for analysis

Rejection Criteria: Grossly hemolyzed, lipemic, unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity Samples will be rejected.

Stability: Stable frozen at -20°C or colder for 20days. Thaw samples only once.

Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible.
