Angiography > Exams & Procedures > Chest Tube Insertion

This procedure is done to assist in the re-expansion of the lungs. A collapsed lung is usually confirmed with a chest X-ray. Local anaesthetic is given to numb the area, then a small tube will be inserted into the chest region to assist in the re-expansion of the collapsed lung. If you are on blood thinners, it is important to let us know so appropriate blood work can be performed.

This procedure takes about 1/2 hour.
