We are a recognized leader in clinical and academic activities in the investigation, prevention and treatment of heart disease. Our services provide patients with complete and comprehensive care.

  • The cardiac rehabilitation centre is dedicated to treating patients and their families who have heart disease.
  • The Terrence Donnelly Vascular Biology Laboratory is an internationally renowned centre concerned with vascular biology and its consequences, including myocardial infarction, arrythmia and congestive heart failure.
  • Our integrated approach to the investigation of vascular disease involves basic scientists, cardiologists, cardiac and vascular surgeons and interventional cardiologists. Clinical trials involve patients with acute coronary syndromes, congestive heart failure and electrical disturbances.
  • We seek to develop a multidisciplinary ambulatory care centre, provide patients with co-ordinated interaction with a range of medical and allied health care professionals, teach all levels of health professionals and conduct research in heart and vascular health.

Patient education is crucial to our approach to heart and vascular health. Most Canadians know that heart disease can be prevented, but few are aware of the risk factors for heart disease. Almost all patients with heart disease have risk factors they can control through lifestyle changes. Because of this, our program involves promoting healthy lifestyles as a preventative measure to heart disease.
