Core Competencies
Competency is the integrated knowledge, skills, attitude and judgement
expected of a professional nurse. As part of the foundation for the
design of the nursing professional care delivery model, we adopt the
following five core competencies as defined by the Institute of Medicine:
- provide patient-centred care
- work in interdisciplinary teams
- employ evidence-based practice
- apply quality improvement
- utilize informatics
