We recently received the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Employer Recognition Award for our support of certified nurses and the CNA Certification Program.

The award recognizes our strong commitment and belief in the certification process and the leadership role taken by individual champions. Some of the activities that demonstrate this support for certification include:

  • building a comprehensive database recognizing nursing staff who have achieved CNA certification
  • including the CNA certification in job descriptions
  • reimbursing fees associated with certification and recertification
  • rewarding successful candidates with celebratory events within the hospital
  • providing financial support for nurses who participate in exam development
  • supporting the development of workshops for nurses to prepare for the exam
  • leading study groups and mentoring of nurses by champions and nursing educators
  • providing education events to assist nurses maintain continuous learning activities

Fellowship Program

This program provides opportunities for novice to expert nurses to complete a unique project to enhance their knowledge, skills and judgement in a clinical, administrative, research or educational area related to their scope of practice. Find out more.

Enrichment Initiative

This initiative is designed to help nurses aged 55 or older remain in the workforce by offering opportunities to spend a portion of their work week in an alternate and/or expanded role that is less physically demanding. Find out more.
