Subodh Verma named Male Professional of the Year by Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce

Dr. Subodh Verma has been named the recipient of the 2011 Male Professional of the Year Award by the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC).

The winner of the Male Professional of the Year Award is selected by an independent Advisory Board. St. Michael’s researcher Prabhat Jha was honoured with the award last year.

Dr Verma is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto and holds the Canada Research Chair in Atherosclerosis. He runs an active research laboratory that focuses on translational medicine in the areas of vascular biology, post-myocardial infarction remodeling, and inflammation, as they relate to cardiovascular pathophysiology and pharmacology. Dr. Verma has received numerous National and International Awards from the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, and more recently was the recipient of the 2010 Silver Shovel Award from the University of Toronto for excellence in overall clinical teaching. He was also named to the 2009 Indo-Canadian Power List, and identified by The Caldwell Partners as one of Canada's top 40 under 40.

Established in 1992, the ICCC Annual Awards program is aimed at recognizing the outstanding achievements and contributions of Indo-Canadians across Canada. Dr Verma's achievement will be recognized by the ICCC at its Annual Awards and Gala Night in June 2011.
