Construction of the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael’s Hospital is well underway. In an interview with Construction Today magazine, Eastern Construction project manager Robert Leonardelli reports that the shoring work for the new building was completed in August, and the concrete forming stage began in June. The nine storey building, which will house the Keenan Research Centre and the Li Ka Shing International Centre in Health Care Education, will be completed in 2010.

The facility will bring together the worlds of research and education within a hospital setting with a focus on improving patient care. “Its link to St. Michael’s Hospital will enable patients to benefit sooner from proven medical discoveries,” says Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute Executive Director Andreas Laupacis.
