On Oct. 30, at a special reception, Jeff Lozon, President and CEO of the Hospital, announced a gift of $1 million from Toni Danisi and Dr. David Young. This generous donation will fund the creation of a new four-bed unit within the Coronary Care Unit. The new unit will speed up care to patients needing angioplasty treatment to reduce the damage of heart attacks. It will also create a comfortable space for families during a stressful time.

Both donors have strong connections to St. Michael's. Toni Danisi worked closely with Dr. Neil Fam, head of the Coronary Care Unit. Dr. Young did a residency here. Their family members have received care at the Hospital.

“This is what St. Michael’s culture of giving is all about,” says Foundation president Alayne Metrick. “What is special about this gift is that it is from two people who worked here. Toni and David know the inner workings of the Hospital, and they knew what we needed to make an incredible difference. We thank them for their generosity.”
