Established in 1975, Diamond & Schmitt Architects Incorporated (DSAI) have achieved national and international recognition for innovative design excellence and a broad range of completed projects delivered with responsible project management and budget control. Having worked with many public organizations, including colleges & universities, government, and healthcare, DSAI’s proven commitment to high standards and ability to design space to support the building’s functional requirements have brought the firm over 100 regional, national, and international awards for design.
Previous healthcare projects include the Apotex Centre at Baycrest Hospital in Toronto, George Hee’s Wing at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, the Regent Park Community Health Centre, as well as various projects at St. Michael’s including the Cardinal Carter wing and the Cardiology Research Laboratories.
DSAI is the prime consultant for the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael's and is supported by the following specialized design firms: Carruthers & Wallace (structural), HH Angus & Associates (mechanical and electrical), and IBI Group Inc (interior design).

Other healthcare projects include the CAMH redevelopment phase 1A, various St. Joseph’s Health Centre additions and renovations, and the Toronto East General Hospital J wing Addition.
Eastern Construction is the general contractor for the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael's and has subcontracted Black and MacDonald (mechanical), Guild Electric (electrical), Alliance Forming Ltd (concrete forming) and C&T Reinforcing Steel to complete the mechanical, electrical and structural portions of the contract.
