Medical office administration staff, such as medical office assistants, hospital unit clerks, medical transcriptionists, etc, and are essential members of our health care teams. Medical office assistants and unit clerks are often the first people patients meet when they enter our clinical settings and play a key role in enhancing the patient experience. They have important roles in patient communication, clerical duties, organizing records and supporting our health professionals to manage administrative processes.

Medical Office Administration at St Michael’s

Medical Office Administration staff work in the majority of inpatient and outpatient services at St. Michael’s such as Family Practice clinics, Intensive Care Units, Women’s Health Care Centre. They work closely with our health care professionals at St. Michael’s to support administrative processes and are key liaisons to maximize the patient experience.

Medical Office Administration Education

St. Michael’s offers opportunities for Medical Office Administration students to apply practical skills and knowledge, including computer applications, medical terminology, medical transcription and medical office procedures, combined with important human relations and verbal and written communications skills, with real patients and staff.
