Community Advisory Panel Research Forums
CAP Research Forums are intended to strengthen links between research and Community Advisory Panels (CAPs) at St. Michael's Hospital.
Three CAPs facilitate a connection between the Hospital, local community agencies and health care consumers and patients. CAPs provide advice to the Hospital and advocate on behalf of the following priority populations:
- Women and children
- People who are homeless and underhoused
- Mental health consumers
The CAPs model has been internationally recognized as an innovative and successful approach for fostering hospital-community partnerships and for addressing the unique concerns of vulnerable inner city groups. CAP members include health care consumers, patients, community agency representatives and staff and volunteers from St. Michael's Hospital. CAPs meet on a regular basis to provide on-going advice regarding Hospital services, to network with colleagues, create education opportunities and ensure a smooth transition for patients across the health care continuum.
