From the day I started at St. Michael's Hospital more than 30 years ago, the Hospital has stood strongly as an organization that lives its values and remains committed to its mission every day. A fixture in the city's core since 1892, the Urban Angel is dedicated to recognizing the value of every individual. We remember the work begun by the Sisters of St. Joseph and continue that work today as we provide compassionate care and show respect and dignity for all, including disadvantaged populations.

As director of mission and values, I reflect on my first days at the Hospital. Like others before me, I have learned of our commitments to the wider community; our sense of social responsibility; our dedication to excellence in patient care, education and research; and our commitments to each other: our staff, physicians and volunteers.

Today, our values and commitments are still seen at every turn. I am proud to work at St. Michael's Hospital and to support our mission, values and vision for our past, present and future.
