Mission & Values
Welcoming, accessible and equitable health care for all
To acknowledge the needs of the communities we serve, St. Michael's reiterates our longstanding commitment to affirm and protect the right to accessible, inclusive, secure and respectful health care for all patients, including people living with HIV/AIDS, lesbians and gay men, their partners and families, the poor, the homeless, persons with disabilities and people with mental illnesses. It is the mission and tradition of St. Michael's to provide compassionate care in a welcoming environment, embracing all races, cultures, classes, beliefs, ages, genders and sexual orientations.
St. Michael's operates in full compliance with the Ontario Human Rights Code. To this end, policies with clear accountabilities have been implemented that affirm and protect the right to health care and treatment which is accessible, inclusive, secure and respectful to all. These policies include a Visiting Policy that respects the patient's definition of family and partner, a Workplace Sexual Harassment Policy and an Accessibility Policy for persons with disabilities.
